Introduction

Each Submission Information Package (SIP) includes one or more Transfer Objects (e.g., a Bag). Transfer Objects are drawn from a controlled list of Transfer Object Types. Each type of transfer object is described in a Transfer Object Type Descriptor that identifies the parent collection of which it is a part.

Each Transfer Object Type Descriptor is based on a Transfer Object Type Descriptor Model. Section 3.2 of PAIS provides a Transfer Object Type Descriptor Specification (CCSD0014).

Proposed Transfer Object Type Descriptor Models include:

• CCSDS Specification (CCSD0014)

• BagIt Profile Specification v1.3.0 (based on the BagIt File Packaging Format)

• Canadian Archival Accession Standard (CAAIS v1.0)
