Introduction
- 5.25 inch floppy disks
On a PC, any built in floppy controller that allows 3.5" floppy drives will also allow 5.25". It's just a matter of edge connectors vs pin connectors on the cable. Newer BIOSes do not support 5.25 drives, but the drives can be used on modern PCs by booting Linux and use fdutils. Fdutils (which uses Linux kernel system calls, which, in turn, programs the fdd controller directly) doesn't care about BIOS fdd support.
