Introduction


This page provides instructions on exporting archival descriptions as CSV data. This task supports several archival functions:

  • Publish new finding aids that comply with the publishing checklist

  • Quality control of legacy archival descriptions

  • Prepare an inventory of material that will monetary appraisal

  • Handle complex reference questions, access requests, digitization requests, etc.

Procedures


Search or browse the Archives Catalogue and produce a set of search results that you want to export as CSV data. The search and browse process will vary depending on the fonds, level of processing, and goal. The following table provides some preliminary guidance on how to produce desired search results:

Navigate to the top-level description. Click on the option to “Browse as list.”

Prepare a spreadsheet inventory to support monetary appraisal

Determine accession number(s) of the material to be appraised.

Use an expert query to search the Archives Catalogue for archival descriptions with the accession number

Handle complex reference questions, digitization requests, etc.

Search or browse the catalogue to identify relevant archival descriptions. Use the clipboard function to flag archival descriptions from multiple search queries.
