9.8 Ingest digital files into Archivematica and store Archival Information Packages (AIPs) in Archival Storage

Archivematica Ingest tab


  1. Complete the "Normalize?" job within the "Normalize" microservice. Select "Do not normalize" from the drop-down list. Note: vendors prepare a preservation "master" and normalized mezzanine and access copies. 



  2. Complete the "Perform policy checks on preservation derivatives?" job within the "Policy checks for derivatives" microservice. Select "Yes" from the drop-down list.



  3. Complete the "Perform policy checks on access derivatives?" job within the "Policy checks for derivatives" microservice. Select "Yes" from the drop-down list.



  4. Skip the "Reminder: add additional metadata" job within the "Add final metadata" microservice." Select "Continue" from the drop-down list.



  5. Complete the "Transcribe SIP contents" job within the "Transcribe SIP contents" microservice." Select "No" from the drop-down list.



  6. Complete the "Bind PIDs?" job within the "Bind PIDs" microservice. Select "No" from the drop-down list.



  7. Complete the "Document empty directories?" job within the "Generate AIP METS" microservice. Select "No" from the drop-down list.



  8. Complete the "Upload DIP" job within the "Upload DIP" microservice. If the DIP is going to AtoM, select "Upload DIP to AtoM" from the drop-down list.



  9. If the DIP is not being disseminated, select "Do not upload DIP" from the drop-down list.



  10. If the DIP is going to AtoM, enter the permalink (i.e., slug) of the target archival description.



  11. Complete the "Store DIP?" job within the "Upload DIP" microservice. Select "Store DIP" from the drop-down list.



  12. If the DIP does not need to be stored, select "Do not store" from the drop-down list.



  13. Complete the "Store DIP location" job within the "Upload DIP" microservice. Select "Default location" from the drop-down list.



  14. Or select "Store DIP in standard Archivematica Directory" from the drop-down list.



  15. Complete the "Store AIP?" job within the "Store AIP" microservice. Select "Store AIP" from the drop-down list.



  16. Complete the "Store AIP location" job within the "Store AIP" microservice. Select "Default location" from the drop-down list.



  17. Or select "Store AIP in standard Archivematica Directory" from the drop-down list.



  18. When the AIP storage location is selected, Archivematica will automatically complete the remaining jobs in the "Store AIP" microservice.



  19. The AIP will be visible in the Archival Storage tab.
