Rewind / Fast-forward

1. Press the “REW” or “FF” button to rewind or advance the tape.

2. Use the analogue knob on the right side of the machine to rewind or advance the tape:

   1. The “REW” knob setting is the same as the “REW” button.

   2. The “X-1” knob setting is a slower rewind with slowed-down audio.

   3. The “STILL” knob setting pauses the tape.

   4. The “X1” knob setting is slower fast-forward with slightly sped-up audio.

   5. The “FWD” knob setting is the same as the “FF” button.

Timecodes

1. The timecode displayed on the JVC CR-85U U-matic player does not come from the tape itself. Unless the tape is rewound to the beginning, the timecode will not reflect the duration of material.

2. The timecode begins at the point the PLAY button is pressed.

3. If the power is turned off/on, the timecode will reset.

4. Tape rewound prior to the moment PLAY is pressed will show a negative number.
