Producer-Archive Project

Definition

A set of activities and the means used by the Information Producer (i.e., donor, representative from Office of Primary Responsibility, Principal Investigator, etc.) as well as the University Archives to ingest a given set of information into the Archives Permanent Collection. Producer-Archive Projects produce submission agreements that result in accessions.

Phases in a Producer-Archive Project

Producer-Archive Projects involve a series of interactions that occur in four phases:

  • Preliminary phase
  • Formal definition phase
  • Transfer phase
  • Validation phase

Producer-Archive Project  ID

  • Archives assign a unique Project ID to each Producer-Archive Project.

  • The Producer-Archive Project ID is a mandatory attribute assigned by the Archive to ensure uniqueness across all such Producer-Archive Projects involving the Archive.

  • The Producer-Archive Project ID is a mandatory attribute within each SIP that enables the Archive to uniquely identify the project to which a SIP belongs and thus to identify the MOT and constraints document applicable to that SIP.

  • Offices of Primary Responsibility (OPRs) transfer University Records to the Archives in accordance with a single DalCLASS Producer-Archive Project established under the auspices of the University Records Management Policy. Each OPR receives a unique Office ID that also acts as a unique Producer Source ID.

  • Private records donated to the University are guided by individual Producer-Archive Projects. Each project receives a unique Project IDs derived from unique Collection IDs registered in the /wiki/spaces/APM/pages/90538072.
