8.3 - Create access copy JPEGS

Note: scanner/camera operators must complete the appropriate procedures for creating digital "master files" of glass plate negatives before completing these steps.

Introduction


  • These procedures require Adobe Photoshop and Adobe Bridge.

Use Adobe Photoshop to create JPEGs


  1. Launch Adobe Photoshop

  2. Click on File menu and select Scripts > Image Processor

  3. Click on the “Select Folder…” button and navigate to the folder containing the master TIFF files.

  4. Select the “Include All sub-folders” checkbox if appropriate.

  5. Select the “Save in Same Location” radio button.

  6. Select the “Save as JPEG” checkbox.

  7. Set the JPEG image quality at 12.

  8. Select the “Include ICC Profile” checkbox.

  9. Click the “Run” button to batch convert the images.

  10. Image Processor will save the JPEGs in a new folder called JPEG that is nested within the source folder.

  11. Rename the JPEG folder “access.”

Use Adobe Bridge to rename JPEGs


  1. Launch Adobe Bridge.

  2. Navigate to the folder with the JPEGs to be renamed.

  3. Double-click on the folder.

  4. Select the files to be batch renamed (click Ctrl + A to select all files within the folder).

  5. Click on the Tools menu and select Batch rename.

  6. Select the "String substitution - master to access" preset from the Preset drop-down menu.

    1. Note: This preset will replace the term "master" with the term "access" 

  7. Use the Preview section to compare current filenames against new filenames.

  8. Click on the Rename button to initiate the batch rename job.
